    Annual Sports day was held on 28th of December in the Don Bosco Play Ground. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Hala Nayak, Academic Director. The events of the day were Athletic events and group events. All the students and teachers were enthusiastically participated. Every one collectively took the oath in the beginning and played all the games with sportive spirit till the end and the event was successfully completed. The event was very successful & enjoyable with sport sprit.

    Indian Institute of Science(IISC) organized an ‘Open Day’ Carnival On 10th March 2018 to showcase research in the Institute and to communicate important concepts in science and engineering to the general public.

    Open Day is the occasion where the IISC opens its doors to general public to visit, learn, ask, and understand the research & culture. It also invited all the students, professors, lecturers and teachers from various academic institutions and professionals from the Industry.

    PU Science students along with all the faculties became the part of this mega carnival where the students and faculties have learnt many things which are related to science as well as academics.

    International Women’s day all about feeling women realize their worth and giving them boost to achieve as per their actual potential. On this day the world unites to appreciate their courage to cross all the hurdles and make such tremendous improvement in all most all the spheres of life.

    Don Bosco Indendent PU College also celebrated this day to show how women come from various cultural and ethnic groups come together crossing all the boundaries and raise their voice for an equal oppurtunity in whatever field she wants to participate in; same a man provided with.

    The program was started at 11.A.M by Invocation song sung by Smt. Divyashree, Faculty Dept. Of Computer Science.

    Mr. Madhusudhan. S.P, Faculty dept of Economics was the master of ceremony and Introduced our Chief Guest Dr. Hala Nayak- Academic Director; Don Bosco group of Institutions.

    Later the chief guest Dr. Hala Nayak spoke upon a few words who highlighted how a general myth that exists in this society about a women and her empowerement. He also wished all the Women faculties of Don Bosco Group of Institutions.

    Other dignitaries on the dias like Prof. Shankar Narayan, Principal Don Bosco Degree College and also Prof. Mahesha. N, Principal Don Bosco Independent PU College also shared their views and opinions of women. Smt. Annapoorna. H.N, Hindi Faculty presented a Kavana Vaachana (presenting a poem) on account of Women’s Day.

    Smt. Kamala Bai, Kannada Faculty also gave a speech about Women’s day . Later a Kannda traditional song which is related to Mother and her sacrifice was sung by Smt. Divyashree and Smt. Sudha.

    Even MBA Girl Students also expressed their views and opinions about the women.

    Later to entertain the women faculties certain games were conducted. For all the winners PU Principal distributed mementos and certificates.

    Don Bosco PU College organized a sports day on 29th december 2017 at 9 Am. The main intention of this program was to inspire the students to actively participate in various sports activities to refresh their bodies and minds. The event started at 9 Am by lightning the lamp to Lord Ganesh. The event was presided by the chief guest Dr. Krishna- Dean of the academics, Dr. Hala Nayak- Academic Director, Prof. Shankarnarayan- Degree College Principal, Prof. Mahesh. S- PU Pricipal. Dr. Kumaraswamy- sports coordinator and Shri. Ajay- Volleyball trainer and all the teaching and non teaching staff witnessed over this event.

    Speaking a few lines Dr. Hala Nayak told all the students to cultivate a good discipline which is the most important aspects to achieve success in life. He also wished all the students who actively took part in various sports activities.

    Events like 100 metre and 200 metre Running race, Shotput, Throw Ball, Volley Ball, Tug of war etc was held.

    In order to cherish and refresh the students minds our college has organized a short one day field visit to Vishweshwaraiah Industrial Technological Museum which is located at Kasturba Road- Bangalore.

    The main intention of this visit is to show and demonstrate certain live instruments for the students which are related to both academics and non academics. Students were excited in seeing various instruments which provided a room for learning. It was just like a part of the learning program for the students apart from classroom activities.

    The students excited to see many scientific instruments and models like a First Aeroplane model which was Invented by Right Brothers, First Diesel and Petrol Engine, models of Spacecrafts and Rockets etc.

    Our PU college celebrated the 62nd Kannada Rajyotsava on 30th November 2017. The program initiated by Invocation and by lightning the lamp and by Garlanding the potrait of motherland Bhuvaneshwari Devi. Mr.Vishwanath. S introduced the guests of the program. The program was presided over by the chief guest Dr. Hala Nayak- academic director, Don Bosco Group of Institutions and also principals of both PU and Degree streams.

    The whole of the program was about the kannada land and its importance and all the speakers spoke over the same topic. Speaking over a few words on kannada and its culture, Dr. Halanayak told that all the citizens of this land must strive for the preservation of language. He told that kannada should be our breathing language and one must not forget to use it.

    Another guest Prof. Shankarnarayan talking over the function, suggested to our students to develop certain disciplines which are the major important aspects of our life. He also spoke over the imporatance of kannada language.

    Even our principal Prof. Mahesh. S spoke a few words on preserving of our language. Prof. Pandurangappa- Faculty BCA Department spoke about the importance of Kannada Flag, which is the only second flag of the state among the country other than Kashmir.

    Other than speeches, there were various cultural activities which was held and entertained both the students and faculties. Totally the program held in a grand success.

This celebration was presided by PU Principal Prof. Mahesh.S and Chief Guest Prof. Shankarnarayan, Degree Principal. The program started at 11 AM with a prayer Lightning the lamp and garlanding to the potraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahaddur Shastri.

    Mr. Madhusudhan, Economics Faculty, gave a welcome speech. Being a guest of the program Prof. Shankarnarayan delivered the guest speech on the life histories of both the eminent personalities. PU college Principal Prof. Mahesh.S also gave a motivational speech for the students.

    Learning process is considered as one of the important aspect in this fast developing world. To compete in this world, one must be able to face the different challenges. Especially when it comes to the matter of education. Each and every individual must challenge themselves and with others. To succeed in this they must attend and clear various competitive examinations. It applies for even PUC Stream- which is considered as Bridging course for the future academics. To move further in the academics. To move further each and every student must study and attend various competitive exams like NEET, CET, JEE etc. For this various training examinations several training institutions have come up. TUTORPOD is one among them.

    TUTORPOD trains the PU Science students to face the Entrance examinations. Our college invited the experts from the TUTORPOD to train our students too. But before that there was a demonstration class held under the guidance from its founder- Dr. Aravind Gambhir. Mr. Gambhir guided the students and gave some important tips like how to prepare for the exam, how to write, how to solve the riddles and challenges. He also proved the value of time and importance of learning for the students. Inorder to motivate the students Mr. Gambhir gave some live instances of the CET & NEET toppers.

    Along with the students, PU Principal Prof. Mahesh. S, Degree Principal Prof. Shankarnarayan, Retd. Principal Of MES College Dr. Rangappa, and staff witnessed the demonstration.

All the departments of the institution like Engineering, MBA, MCA, Degree and PUC together celebrated in our DBIT premises at 9 AM. All the department Principals, HOD’s, Teaching & Non teaching faculties and students of all the streams celebrated the event. Flag was furled by the DBIT Principal Dr. Muralidhara Rao. All the principals of different departments were witnessed the program. Students spoke about nationality.

    There is a saying that Classroom activities make the students mentally strong and Non-Classroom activities makes Physically strong. Like wise our institution strongly believes in a concept of “SOUND MIND IN A SOUND BODY”. Sometimes apart from the courseworks it also organises certain non classroom activities to motivate children. Such activity among them is a Kite Festival Day where students take part in kite flying competition.

    This festival was organized on Saturday, July 8th 2017 in our college sports ground from morning 10 to 1 pm.

    Our PU principal Prof. M.R Srinivas was the mastermind in organizing this concept and students were very much enthusiastic to take a active role in this festival. The faculty members were also present for this auspicious ocassion. Later the students who won this competition by flying their kites to higher distance than others were encouraged and honoured with certificates and prizes.

    On Ocassion of World Environmental Day, PU Department had conducted Environmental Day in College Premises.

    This program held on Monday, dated- 5th June 2017 at sharp 9 Am with a morning prayer. The students went on a massive campaign in and around college premises by holding a hoardings with various slogans about the nature and environment. Our students were keenly interested in spreading the awareness of environmental day which is considered as very much essential part in recent years. The students of PU Science stream held a street play based on the concept of saving water. By highlighting a concept- “Save Water, Save Lives”, this street play came very much effectively and for the same it has been very much appreciated by the ongoers of the street.

    There were so many quotes about environmental day such as Save Tree Save life, Hasire Usiru etc..

    This program was initiated by our college Principal Prof. M.R.Srinivas. The members of Kumbalagodu Taluk Panchayat and Police officers of Kumbalagodu Jurisdiction were also witnessed this program by handovering various plant saplings to our students and Faculties.

    The same saplings were planted in our college premises under the leadership of our Biology lecturer Sushmitha Nanda and all the students were very much happy to take part in this event.

    Celebration of 154th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda (NarendraNath Datta)

    Don Bosco Independent P.U College celebrated 154th Vivekananda Jayanthi in its campus ,on 12th January,2017. Dr.B.S Ashok kumar, Prof.Kannada dept. from Sheshadripuram college was invited as the Chief Guest. The programme started with prayer followed by lighting the lamp. Afterwards, the Chief Guest spoke about the life details the mission and the message of Swami Vivekananda in a way inspiring manner. The quotes of Vivekananda were recited by the faculty members.The other dignitaries on the dias- Prof.M.R.Srinivas, the principal of Don Bosco Independent P.U College & Prof. Pandurangappa, the principal of Don Bosco Degree College spoke about the teaching of Swami Vivekananda and their applicability for the present day scenario the students were advised to implement swamiji’s ideals in every walk of their lives.

    The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by a teaching faculty and the distributionof sweets to one and all.

    The II Annual Sports Meet was conducted with great jubilation and excitement. It was a much awaited event for all the students and almost 90% of the students took part in various events like 100 Meters Relay, Shot Out, Tug of War, Volley Ball and Throw Ball. Most of the students from Science and Commence Streams won the prizes. It was very well planned and conducted on par with District level sports competitions.

    "Mother Tongue or Kannada Medium Education is required or not?"

    This competition was organized to collect the feedback /opinion from the students about, what medium of instruction they feel comfortable in gaining the subject knowledge – English or Mother Tongue? The students spoke ‘for’ and ‘against’ the topic extensively. They argued and counter argued about the feasibility of the medium. The students were given an opportunity to argue about their preferences, convictions and opinions freely without any inhibition. They enjoyed taking part in this debate. The I Prize winners were Miss Yashoda & Team of I PU Science, and the II Prize winners were Miss Tejaswini & Team of II PU Commerce.

    This competition was organized to highlight the importance of our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s concept of keeping India neat and clean. It’s objective is to spread an awareness about keeping India neat at different micro and macro levels, by all the stakeholders like corporators, householders, students, industrial concerns, village panchayats, public and private organizations and BBMP employees etc. The I Prize winner was Miss Sushmita. R of II PU Commerce, the II Prize winner was Miss Vidyarani of II PU Science and the III Prize winner was Miss Chandini Kumari of II PU Science.

    Science & Art Exhibition

    A Science and Art Exhibition was organized as a promotional activity. It was aimed at inviting the neighborhood schools to visit the college campus, infrastructure, facilities, staff etc. More than 300 students visited the schools and nearly 200 students participated in the event. They were given an opportunity to explore the present scenario in science and technology. The students also exhibited talents in arts and crafts. Various competitions like 3D modeling, KalaVaibhav, Creative Science, Art & Craft and Best out of waste were conducted to the school children; and the Prizes, certificates, medals and mementoes were distributed to the participants and the prize winners. The visitors, participating schools, the school Principals and the general public, appreciated the arrangements made, the coordination between the PU staff and the volunteers, the delicious lunch provided and the very concept of involving them in our growth process. All together, the science and Art exhibition was a grand success

    “ E-Waste Management”

    This competition was organized to unleash the creativity, by highlighting the Electronic Waste management techniques. The students came out with innovative ideas of Electronic Waste Management by making use of Animation in MS-WORD, and by surfing Internet and collecting E-Waste materials. Through this competition, they gave a message about how to reduce the electronic pollution. The outcome was varied and inspiring to the visitors. The I Prize winners were Miss Chandini .P & Miss Shafia of II PU Commerce; the II Prize winners were Master Augustine & Master Sharath of II PU Commerce and the III Prize winners were Master Gokul & Master Yeeshan of I PU Science.

    Kannada Rajyotsava

    Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with much devotion and patriotic fervor. The staff and students have shown excellent team spirit in this celebration. The campus was decorated colorfully and the stage was decorated with the backdrop, highlighting the Goddess Bhuvaneshwari Devi, the pictures of Gnanapeeta Awardees and the Karnataka emblem. The staff ,students and the visitors wore yellow and Red coloured scarfs and dresses. Sri Appagere Thimmaraju, the famous International folk singer was invited as the chief guest. He entertained the audience for 1 1/2 hours, with his melodious singing, highlighting the kannada folk culture. Everyone who attended the programme was mesmerized with his expertise. The other speakers highlighted the importance of Kannada language, its heritage , culture and the friendly disposition of the people of Karnataka. The programme ended with the distribution of sweets to one and all.

    "Model Making Competition"

    This competition was arranged during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration, to highlight the Historical Monuments of Karnataka state, in meniature models. The students have shown a great interest in making the models by investing a lot of money and effort. Some of the models made by the students were, the Vidhan Soudha of Bangalore, Tippu palace, the Lal Bagh Garden, the ISKON temple etc. It was a feast for the eyes to see the marvelous work done by the students.

    “Collage Competition”

    This competition was organized to highlight the Cultural Heritage of Karnataka State and to commemorate the Kannada Rajyotsava. Some of the ideas presented in the Collage were: the historical monuments, the varieties of food items generally consumed by the people of Karnataka, the tourist attractions of the state etc. The students from both Science and Commerce streams participated with interest and enthusiasm. They had selected a variety of items to decorate their collage works. The I Prize winner was Miss Sanjushree of I PU Science, the II Prize winners were Miss Bhoomika and Miss Bineesha of II PU Science and the III Prize winners were Miss Sadiya Kousar and Miss Anitha of II PU Commerce. The Consolation Prize winners were Master Manoj and Master Madhu of I PU Commerce and Miss Yashodha .D.S. of II PU Science.

    This competition was organized to give practice to the students, in creating a Power Point Presentation, on the given topic i.e. ‘Gadgets’. The teams from I & II PU Commerce participated with great enthusiasm and interest. The students made the presentations by incorporating slogans, pictures/images, animation and music to their slides. It was quite amazing to see the variety and innovative ideas designed by the students. The I Prize winners were Master Satwik and Master Mahesh from II PU Commerce, the II Prize winners were Master Nithin Francis and Master Mohammed Maaz from I PU Commerce.

    Celebration of “Gandhi Jayanthi”

    Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated with great enthusiasm and jubilation by the PU College. As a mark of respect to the Father of our Nation, all the staff and students attended the celebration in white dress. They sang the favourite song of Mahatma i.e. ‘Raghupati Raghava Rajaram’. Mr. Doddaiah .Y.C. from Gandhi Bhavan was invited as the Chief Guest. He shared some of his experiences about his association with Mahatma and has shown a documentary movie about Gandhiji’s life. The other speakers were Mr. Narasimha Murthy of English dept, Prof. Pandurangappa , the Principal of Don Bosco Degree College and Prof. M.R.Srinivas , the Principal of PU College. The programme ended with sweet distribution to one and all.

    This competition was organized to give practice to the students, in extempore speaking, to enable them to lose stage fear and help them to face the audience boldly and confidently. The topics such as ‘Television’, ‘Mobile’, ‘If I were the Chief Minister’, ‘If I were the Education Minister’ and ‘Internet‘ and ‘My favourite book’ were selected for the students to pick and speak. A large number of students came forward to participate in the competition. They found themselves very confident to express their ideas freely and frankly in front of a large gathering. The I Prize winner was Master Chethan .R of I PU Science, the II Prize winner was Miss Swathi.S of I PU Science and the III Prize winner was Master Suraj Hugar of I PU Science.

    Celebration of “Hindi Divas”

    To commemorate and pay respect to our National Language, and to express our solidarity to the students of Hindi origin, Hindi Divas was celebrated with great pomp and pleasure. The Hindi speaking students of PU Department conducted some cultural events like shayeri, sports quiz, kavithaye for the audience. The HODs of BCA, BBM B.Com, MBA and the Principal of Don Bosco Degree college, the senior lecturers from English and Hindi Dept. were invited to address the students. The importance of learning Hindi by one and all, was highlighted by the speakers. The winners of ‘Shayeri’ competition were Miss Anjum Taj and Miss Sania Begum of I PU Commerce; The winners of ‘Kavithaye’ competition were Miss Sunitha and Miss Bhooomi.T. Gorani of II PU Commerce. The winners of ‘Hindi Quiz’ competition were Master Nithin Francis and Master Mohammed Maaz of I PU Commerce. The winner of ‘Muhavare’ competition was Miss Shivani Singh of II PU Science.

    "One-word Substitutes"

    This competition was organized mainly to teach the students, the skill of substituting one sentence with one word or vice versa. The students get an idea about transforming sentences into words and words into sentences. A lot of reference was done in collecting various one-word substitutes from the internet and google search, and were consolidated and given to the students for practice. The ideas were discussed and debated in the classroom, and PPTs were made, to motivate the students to learn for the competition. They found this competition was useful to enhance their English knowledge. The winners of the competition were Miss Sanjushree .K.V. & team, from I PU Science.

    This competition aimed giving students a practice of using idiomatic or Ornamental English in their day to day speech. As idioms give a different and tacit meanings for the expressions used in our daily conversation, a practice of them make one feel very confident and proud. When people use idiomatic English, they are appreciated instantly and are rated as the best communicators. Those who are well versed with the use of idioms, enjoy better status and reputation.     “Corporate Expo”

    This competition was organized to give a hands-on-training or Corporate Exposure to the students of Commerce, to experience the various stages of business such as planning, budgeting, organizing, selling & Marketing and collecting Feedback from the customers. The students selected various items of business such as Fancy and Stationery items, Chat items, fast foods, varieties of fireless cooking, Fruit juices and ice creams etc., for sale. They put up stalls, advertisement boards, price tags and sales persons to give a corporate appeal. It was really a miniature mall with all the relevant features and most of the items were purchased by the visitors. The winners were selected based the teams, which sold most of their products and made the maximum earning. The I Prize winners were Master Prajwal & the team[Mlfreados] ; the II Prize winners were Miss Pavithra .M.S. & her team [Bpaas Fancy store and Chat Waat] and the III Prize winners were Master Mohemmed Arbaaz & his team [Gangsters Chat Center].

The students have made extensive library reference, by using the sources of Internet, Google search and prepared wonderful Biographical sketches of Sri Abdul Kalam, Sir Issac Newton and Sir C.V. Raman etc. in a very impressive manner. The I Prize winner is Miss Jyothi Kumari of II PU Science; the II Prize Winner is Miss Indhu of I PU Science and the III Prize winner is Master Chetan of I PU Science.

    Don Bosco Independent PU College has proudly celebrated its First Annual Day, on 6th March, 2016, with great joy and Jubilation. Dr. U.M. Premalatha, the Director and Principal of Don Bosco Institute of Bio Sciences and Management Studies were invited, as the Chief Guest of the Celebration. The HODs of MBA, BCA, B.Com, BBA and PUC were the other invitees. The highlight of the function was, to honor about 80% of the PU strength, as winners of both Academic, Sports & Cultural Competitions.

    Ethnic Day

    The Ethnic Day Celebration went on with great jubilation and excitement. The staff and students wore different dresses, which symbolized the different dress codes of various geographical communities of the Karnataka State. There was a festive spirit all around and it was a feast for the eyes, to see the students in their native dresses. It was adjudged that, Master Ningaraju of II PU Science was the Mr. Ethnic and Miss Jyothi Kumari of I PU Science was the Ms. Ethnic.

    The 3rd Academic year of the PU College started with a perfect plan, to balance between the Internal Tests, Departmental competitions, Celebrations and Organization of Events and Activities for the neighboring school students.

The variety and the expertise were appreciated by one and all.     This event has been organized as a Promotional Activity, to involve the neighborhood school children in our growth process. Five faculty members had gone to the proposed school and conducted three rounds of Quiz competition i.e. I Round – ‘Browsing Brains’, II Round – ‘Sight and Sound’ and III Round – ‘Guess the Riddle’. The students participated actively in all the rounds and expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the efforts made by the Don Bosco Faculty. This activity helped the college to develop a rapport with the prospective students of the next academic year.

The students were encouraged to think fast and reflect their ideas in a span of 1 minute time. They were encouraged to speak, whatever they feel is right for the topic provided to them. This competition enabled one and all to understand, which student has the knowledge and awareness about the contemporary issues, and who has the more concern and solution for the topic given. The I Prize winner was Master Augustine of II PU Commerce; the II Prize winner was Master Somanna of I PU Commerce and the III Prize winner was Master Yathish Kumar of I PU Science.

    This debate has been organized to give practice in extempore speaking, to evaluate the general knowledge and to reduce the stage fear while facing the audience. The students were encouraged to refer extensively to understand the concept and how the MNCs are functioning in the global scenario and what is their contribution to the overall growth of Economy. The students are made to understand, how the global companies are absorbing the national labor force on a cheaper basis to provide employment opportunities to the Indian professionals and make them feel that, they are a part of the global development of economy. Master Augustine’s team, who spoke against the topic are declared as the winners.
